Show and Tell

There have been some lovely quilts displayed at our regular meeting days. Cast your eyes over these beautiful quilts that members have been busy completing for family and friends.

                                           Trish made this from scraps. A split 9 patch pattern.
 Gail's lovely bag was beautifully made.
 Fay's quilt with circles.
 Another of Fay's quilts with curves and circles.
 A new great grandson will receive this lovely quilt.
 Angela has found a way to display badges collected over the years by her son.
 Trish was asked to make a green and pink quilt for someone special.
 Ferne called this one Ladies in Black. It was her own design.
 Mr and Mrs Clause came to visit.
 Buddy's anything goes crazy scrap quilt.
 Ann's quilt with Japanese fabric.
Daphne has been making this Blue and Yellow quilt with hand applique and machine piecing. Just sewing the binding down.
 The club finished the year off with a Christmas luncheon at a local venue.

Viewers Choice

The winners of the viewers choice from the quilts displayed at the Toowoomba Quilters Club exhibition of quilts were announced last week.
In the Professional category 1st place was awarded to Betty Fawcett with quilt called
"My Flower Garden"

2nd place was awarded to Robyn Ginn her quilt was called
"Faith is a Bird"
In the Amateur category1st place was awarded to Beryl Mayes with
                                             "Egyptian Life"
 
2nd place in the Amateur category was awarded to Ferne Callow
"Dancing Dollies "

A mini workshop was also held to make some Angels for the Christmas tree or table centre.
                                                              They looked so gorgeous.
This lovely quilt was also on display.

Presentations

Congratulations to Yasmine Allan the winner of the 2016 Art Union quilt.
Carol and Betty handed over the quilt to Yasmine who was very excited to be taking the quilt home with her.


We also presented Mark with a cheque from the proceeds who was representing The Toowoomba Hospice, which was the chosen recipient for the Art Union.

 
Fay and Betty  handed over some donations from members for a fund raiser for the Hospice.

Christmas in July

The club rooms were a hive of activity for the annual fundraiser for a chosen charity at Christmas with the Christmas in July theme and the viewing and judging of the pin cushion challenge. There are some very creative ladies when it comes to designing.



 
Ena with her pincushion won 1st place.
Trish came 2nd with her replica of the soldier's hat.
Linda won 3rd prize with her pincushion.

 
The tables were filled with delicious food also to help celebrate the day.

Then there were quilts on display that members have been busy completing for the exhibition in September.

Turbans and Pillows

Club members have been busy making Turbans and Pillows for the local Hospital Foundation to help  cancer patients who are having treatment for breast cancer. They donated 24 pillows and 24 turbans.

Quilts on display, Cuppa for Cancer


Lots of members have been busy lately. These are a few quilts that have been displayed at the meeting days.






The club held a Cuppa for cancer morning tea. The theme was to dress as an odd bod.
There were some interesting ways to dress up or down. These are the winners who were very creative.
 A Scrumptious morning tea was served with the best china.

 Genell wore her hat with odd balls hanging off it.


Don't you love Valdaries shoes, they were woollen and handmade.
