Rusting day

Saturday 19th March the TQ TAQ group met and Julie demonstrated some techniques for rusting fabric.

Julie showed 2 of her quilts that she had made.

Some fabric soaking with the rust showing through.

Christine has also been busy and has designed a logo.

Some of the ladies showed their journal pages that they received.

More 2016 Activities

Lots of us were delighted to have a craft fair in Toowoomba as we usually have to travel to Brisbane for such events. Craft Alive exhibited at the Clive Berghofer Recreation Centre during February 2016 and was well attended by our members. Several of them volunteered to promote our club and our annual exhibition over the three days of the fair.

Valderie, Norelle and Heather shared a few laughs!

Some of our "community quilts' were hung to decorate our stall.

Valerie's hand-operated sewing machine always generates a lot of interest.

This year Genell has committed herself to coordinating a Mystery Quilt project which is now well under way with so many participants that we had to form two groups to work at separate times! Stay tuned for the results, many of which should be on display at this year's Exhibition in September.

The theme for our 2016 Exhibition is Spring into Quilts. The 2016 Art Union Quilt is nearly finished and, following the first meeting of the 2016 Exhibition Committee last week, plans are now truly progressing.

And of course everyone (well most people) have been sewing and quilting.

Cheryl's BOM quilt top

Trish P coordinated a block-of-the-month project through our newsletter last year. Cheryl sewed her together and brought her quilt top along to show us (and possibly shame others into putting theirs together!) Again, we hope to see more of them hung at our exhibition.

Angela's Birds in the Air

The amazingly productive Angela has recently finished this quit for her husband "using the fabric that he insisted she buy in Amsterdam, Holland, last year." (An amazing husband too!)

Daphne's Tumbling Blocks

Daphne finished this beautiful quilt late last year and we are grateful that she brought it along for Show and Tell.

As a consequence of our AGM at the beginning of the month we have two new Executive members and several new representatives on the Management Committee. Best wishes to everyone for another wonderful, successful and fun year.
