Group projects

As we have so many talented Club members who are willing to share their experience and expertise it is no wonder that our "Group Project Days" are so popular.  In the past we have worked together on mug bags, clam shells, dresden plate table centres and fabric bowls - to name a few of the projects. Recently Pat L led a Group Project that saw participating members each producing an impressive twisted bargello quilt top.

Lesley E brought hers for Show and Tell a couple of weeks ago and photos of more of these tops will be posted shortly. Plus of course a number of them will be completed for hanging at our Quilt Exhibition at the Salo Center during Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers week.

These lovely quilts were made by Penny V who taught a workshop on her design, Fast and Fabulous, to an enthusiastic group last month. Again, some resulting quilt tops will be posted shortly and some will be hung at our Exhibition.

Di C brought along her birthday quilt to show us what her clever quilting friends made to help her celebrate her last birthday.  The embroidered blocks are beautiful!

A Tribute to My Grandmother (Oma)

This quilt is a wonderful celebration of the life of Angela L's grandmother. The embroidered and crocheted pieces that were inserts in European pillowcases and doonas were made by her grandmother between  1915 and 1970. The photos depict Angela's grandmother over the years.

Club plans for May include a bus trip to the Queensland Quilters Picnic on Tuesday 12 May and a Cuppa for Cancer morning tea on Tuesday 19 May. The colour theme for this year's function is green.
