We had two lots of quilt "twins" at quilt group yesterday!
"Look Ma - No Maths"
Sue. M. did this quilt in 2002. This was a rare departure from her usual applique work and first rotary cutting experience! She used 9 patch squares as a starting point and worked out from there. The African fabrics were a big bag of remnants given to her by a colleague at work.
The quilt was made over 6 weeks of summer holiday 2001-2002.
"African Ripples in Tickled Pink & Blue"
Sue M. decided to have another go at the same design in 2010. She used the white/blue African fabric remnants that didn't 'go' with the first quilt. Made for her Mum and Dad and the title references Fats Waller whose music her father adores.
Linda and Lynn did the same mystery quilt through Chinchilla Quilters. Looking so different yet using the same Debbie Caffrey design.
Linda has named her quilt "Lasagne" and the colours are scrumpious.
Lynn has used some fabulous green and blue Kaffe Fassett fabrics in hers with the background a lovely blue cloud fabric.
Jan G has just finished this lovely flimsy doing some very fine applique. Very 'William Morris looking".
Lyn brought along this brooch she has made to show us.
It was inspired by similar brooches made by felt artist, Helen Stumkat.
Can you see what it is made of? Yes - a zipper. Lyn has embellished it with beads, sequins and a cute trinket.
The brooch is only about 2 1/2 inches across. Beautiful, Lyn

So lovely to see all the creations these ladies have made. It is wonderful to be able to keep up with the news when one cannot always get to the meetings. Great work ladies, keep it coming.
